The BHCC has changed the ruling about Homemove Band A access. Discretionary scheme has now ended. Time was when clients who reached a certain level of suitability were moved into this band and had a certain priority for access to Council and Private Rented Sector properties.
I decided to investigate further and went to the BHCC Housing Benefit Office and asked what it means. I was told that there was no change. It will mean more interaction by BHT with Integrated Pathway Services like Young Men’s Christian Association YMCA; BAOH(Business Action on Homelessness); and Southdown Housing Association SHA. Integrated Support Pathways provide housing aid for people at risk and offenders.
Although it will be a great leveller, the decision to remove people who were previously eligible will make placements harder.
