Set in Brighton and Hove ‘Just Another Game’ is the fourth electronic novel from local author Chris Ellis.

In three parts, the book tells the story of a group of people, one imagines are local to the area. The different types, all well characterised by the, author range from a female hippy, Sally to a hero, Rich. These colourful people move in and out of their personalities and become chess pieces, pawn, king, bishop queen. One is led to believe that the forms of good and bad are played out on the streets of Brighton and Hove .through these people.
Gladys the little old lady becomes the white queen, Sir James Watts, a bishop and into cricket.
‘September shakes hands with October’ just one of astute observances Chris Ellis. author makes.

At the start of the book, Rich takes a walk to Devil’s Dyke, the hill on the South Downs, north of Brighton city. We are told the story, how the Devil created a cutting in the hillside so that the sea would come in and flood the area north of the downs.
Rich then receives a mystery present from the postman, of a sword.(The author likes swords).this is then miniaturised
The characters continue their interaction…the Mods and Rockers arrive and in Part Two there is soon a battle in the Western Road, the area of mass consumption, and the glitterati of greed.

This will please those who are in need of a good read. A good novel with some great character insights-and in thriller mode… only a few pounds to buy.

Other books: Writers Block and two sequels.
