Toys in the Community

Chris and I were invited to the Toys in the Community Launch Party in January. Heading the guest list were some of those who took part in the project, who recounted their memories telling tales of their childhood toys.

Also in attendance was Brighton and Hove Mayoress Councillor Lynda Hyde.

Situated under Brighton Railway Station amid a collection of toys that has to be seen to be believed, we shared our stories swapped jokes and enjoyed a light buffet.

The aim of the project is to make an archive of memories to record peoples times, so that we can all see that the  story of toys is a never ending one.

Andrea Dumbrells (Project Manager) enthusiasm for the project was apparent right from the start.

“The project isn’t just for academics; toy buffs or social historians. We aim to catch memories and reflections of people talking about their childhood”, she said.
